In this post I will give you a brief overview of items to consider when contemplating a Holiday in New Zealand. So many times I get asked what to do, where to go and where to start etc.

Well I guess one of the best places to start your holiday in New Zealand is Auckland, and whilst not the capital city, it is the busiest and biggest of our citie. Most international flights arrive in Auckland and ALL of the rental car companies and campervan/motor home hire companies have offices in or near the Auckland International Airport. In fact most of the companies that don’t have offices inside the terminal, offer a shuttle van service to pick you up and take you to their offices.
If you intend to start your holiday in New Zealand in a hotel, then there is a whole raft of methods of getting you from the airport to the hotel. These include hotel shuttle buses, taxis, shuttle vans and an excellent bus service, Airbus Express, that runs every 10 minutes (7am – 7pm Monday to Friday) into the city and costs $NZ16.00 one way per adult.
So once you have settled into the country and ready to start your holiday in New Zealand, I guess it is dependant on how much time you have set aside but you can head either north, up to the magnificent Bay of Islands or head south towards the tourist mega centre, and must see, of Rotorua. As you make your way around this site you will find information about the areas to help you make your decision as to what to do and places to visit in New Zealand. My personal preference would be to go North first, unless you are contemplating departing from Auckland, then a couple of peaceful days of R&R in the Bay of Islands at the end of your holiday in New Zealand would be just what the doctor ordered.

Then its off to Taupo and New Zealand’s largest lake where you can then either decide on tramping, walks, skiing in the winter at one of the two ski fields in the central plateau, or off to the east coast and towns like Napier and Hastings. Either way you will eventually end up in Wellington the capital of New Zealand and another great place to spend some time in.

In a post like this it is always very hard to cover everything and if there is a specific request please either post a comment or email me and I will do my very best to answer your query. This is a brief taster of what to expect on a holiday in New Zealand.

All thats left to say is – ” KiaOra” Have a great holiday in New Zealand.

Quite interesting, I wish I had read your blog a year ago. I went down to New Zealand last summer with a bunch of friends and we struggled to find proper accommodation at first in Auckland. We tried a bunch of websites but eventually booked using http://www.trivago.co.nz/auckland-city-531892/hotel We made a trip to Waiheke, visited the beaches, like St Heliers and Mission Bay and even gave kayaking a go. We had a grand time, I’m looking forward to going again.
